About the role

We are seeking motivated professionals at the APS5 level to join our Commonwealth Government client's FOI and Reviews Branch. The successful candidate will process and make decisions relating to Freedom of Information (FOI), undertake research and analysis with a high level of attention to detail, and deliver professional advice to maintain relationships with key stakeholders.

An initial labour hire contract from 5 January 2026 until 30 June 2026 is on offer, with possibility of extension.

This role is full time and can be undertaken from Canberra (ACT), Sydney (NSW), Adelaide (SA) or Brisbane (QLD), with hybrid working arrangements also supported.

Please note: only Australian citizens will be considered for this role.

Duties:

  • Process and make decisions on requests for access of documents under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act).
  • Provide professional advice on FOI to internal staff and stakeholders.
  • Support and maintain stakeholder relationships.
  • Maintain and file records in accordance with information management processes and security requirements.
  • Analyse information and data to make decisions and provide recommendations for review or clearance by senior staff.

Requisite skills/experience:

  • Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying the FOI Act, including decision-making (highly desirable).
  • Strong research, analysis and problem-solving skills, as well as a high level of attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to communicate confidently and present messages in a clear, concise and articulate manner.
