Nature of role:

This position involves a plays a critical role in delivering high-quality care and educational activities for children outside of school hours. This includes before and after-school care, as well as vacation programs. All OSHC staff are required to ensure a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment, assist in planning programs, and maintaining compliance with relevant standards and regulations. As a Christian College, the role requires a commitment to fostering positive relationships within the College community, contributing to the spiritual and academic life of the College.

Main Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will be required to:

  • Be responsible for all duties related to the shift and specific tasks assigned by the Director.
  • Maintain team morale and work alongside the Director.
  • Follow OSHC Philosophy, Policies, National Quality Standards, MTOP, SVCC guidelines, and legal obligations regarding Duty of Care to children.
  • Stay updated on emergency procedures and report hazards.
  • Supervise children, ensuring their safety and engaging them in age-appropriate activities.
  • Assist in planning and implementing programs, preparing meals, and maintaining program materials.
  • Build positive relationships with parents and provide relevant information as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of records, clean up after sessions, and ensure the premises are secure, hygienic, and well-maintained.

Reporting/Working Relationships:

The OSHC Educator is responsible to the ELC Director and the Head of Operations.

Other Requirements:

Mandatory:

  • Hold, or be working towards, a qualification that meets ACECQA's minimum standards to be classified as a qualified educator (Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent)
  • A current Working with Children Check (mandatory before commencement)
  • A current Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care (RRHAN-EC) (mandatory before commencement)
  • A First Aid certificate or be willing to obtain one
