More details can be found on our website or apply directly via this link:
If you have applied previously, please reapply as our support worker intake is ongoing.
Please have your suburb of residence in your resume. Resumes without this we are unable to process, as well as applications outside of Victoria.
Pathway People is a NDIS provider that works with participants on the NDIS. Our participants are located throughout Melbourne, and are looking for support workers like you.
The role:
We meet participants in the community and in their homes to help them achieve their goals and live their best quality of life. Our primary focus is on participants with mental health disabilities, although occasionally we do take on participants with physical disabilities.
As a support worker, the work is mostly independent or with one other worker. The main responsibilities are:
Meet participants in an agreed area, such as their homes or in a park, and help provide support where needed.
Providing practical support such as attending appointments, helping participants search for new housing or jobs, exercising or going outside for walks.
Being creative in your problem solving. Coming up with new ideas for social outings, and finding what can be agreed upon.
Social role modelling when out in public, being a friend and helping others feel confident in social situations
Assisting with gardening or cleaning at home to help them in their independence
Detailed case noting after every session - these notes are vital for the NDIS participants and allied health professionals who we work with.
We work with you to find how many hours you want and which clients/areas you prefer to work with. On average our staff work 6-25 hours per week in a stable roster, set days and times every week. As such, we are looking for workers who can build a relationship with others over time.
We understand the nature of casual work and try to offset its disadvantages by paying above the award rate, offering cancellation payment if a shift is cancelled within 24 hours beforehand, and finding participants that will suit your experience in the field.
You will be paid at the base rate of $45.54 per hour on weekdays, $60.21 for Saturday shifts, $74.62 for Sunday shifts, and $85.28 for Public Holidays. Supperannuation is paid ontop of these rates.
Please apply if you:
(Essential - Do not apply without)
Minimum 3 months experience in the disability or similar field
Studying towards or a degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field, Cert IV in Mental Health, or related field, such as community services or disability is desirable
Can provide emotional support and be considerate. Our participants need care delivered by professional and empathetic people.
- Access to a car and a current driver's licence (you may be required to transport clients in your own vehicle, this is reimbursed on a per kilometre basis $1 per KM)
Our hiring process:
All applications are received and stored in our database. We will look to match you with a participant nearby to your residence, and get in contact as soon as this occurs.
