ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a Disability Support Worker, you will play an important role in supporting and empowering People with disability to live independently in the community and to achieve their individual goals.

We are looking for can speak English, experienced Disability Support Workers to join our Supported Independent Living team.

These roles will be based in Malabar NSW 2036 and will require successful applicants to be available and willing to work within Monday to Friday 10am-1pm.

You will be responsible for ensuring that people you are supporting have meaningful engagement with the community in all its forms and ensuring their complex needs are being met.

You will be providing direct care to the clients and performing activities including, but not limited to:

Personal care

Respite (including recreational activities);

Transporting to/from appointments and day programs;

Cleaning/domestic assistance;

Meal preparation;

Shopping.

We are looking for people from all different background who have:

Certificate III in Disability, Community Services or similar

Extensive experience in providing direct care to people with complex needs, preferably within a supported accommodation setting, people with intellectual disabilities and challenging behaviours;

Understanding of Person-Centred plans, Behaviour Support plans and Health Care plans;

Knowledge of relevant legislation and its implication for clients;

High levels of enthusiasm, initiative and a positive attitude;

Ability to work independently and as part of a team;

Demonstrated high level communication skills;

Possession of a NSW Driver's License

Ability to work flexible hours and willingness to work a variety of shifts across a 24/7 roster including weekends, nights and public holidays

First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.

  • * Satisfactory Australian National Police check within the last 6 months
  • * Valid Working With Children Check
  • * Current first aid and CPR certificate
  • * Smartphone
  • * Driver's licence and their own car with comprehensive insurance

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check
