Your opportunity

We are seeking a temporary full-time Station Assistant (Relief) to join our team in Townsville until 01/04/2026 with the possibility of extension.

As a Station Assistant (Relief), you will join a team of seven to play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation at Townsville Station. You will be responsible providing exceptional customer service, completing general cleaning duties and contributing to a positive and safe environment.

Purpose that Counts. As a Station Assistant (Relief) some of your duties will include:


•    Assisting with the de-provision and provision of supplies on train arrival and departure.

•    Working with the team to manage luggage check in and loading procedures.

•    General cleaning and maintenance duties of the station, bathroom facilities, baggage areas, the train and gardens.

•    Providing platform announcements and active platform management.

•    Providing exceptional customer service to travelling customers and the local community – this includes assisting with customer luggage.

•    Operating station machinery and equipment.

•    Reporting any safety concerns to the Operation Coordinator.

Roser/Hours

This is a full-time position which generally works between the hours of 0700 and 1606. You can expect to be on a roster which will include a variety of start and finish times as well as weekends and public holidays, so flexibility is required in this position.

We are seeking to connect with someone who ideally will have:


•    The ability to work autonomously but also within a team environment.

•    Strong communication skills coupled with a customer focused attitude to ensure a positive experience with customers.

•    Sound computer skills.

•    A strong work ethic and willingness to go the 'extra mile'.

•    A safety conscious attitude.

•    Resilience and ability to self-motivate.

•    Ability to undertake a variety of manual handling tasks including cleaning and lifting of heavy luggage up to 20 kilograms.

•    Previous cleaning experience
