About the rolePart of Merri-bek's Senior Management Team, the Manager Amenity and Compliance oversees branch functions that include school crossings, parking permits and compliance, local laws, animal registration, animal management and recently has added construction management and asset assurance functions. Staff in the branch are highly engaged and open to continuous improvement.
Safety of staff, both physical and psychosocial, is of highest priority and the benefits of compliance actions to the broader community are the motivation for our work. The branch delivers compliance operations that emphasise fairness, allow exercise of discretion and meet legislative requirements.
This 2-year opportunity has arisen to backfill a secondment. We are seeking an exceptional, collaborative leader with a background in related roles to lead day to day operations and oversee continued integration of the new functions into the branch, the move to a new infringement management system, the review of the Local Law and delivery of Domestic Animal Management Plan actions.
Skills and experience require to perform the role- Management of compliance functions in a local government context and understanding of the specific needs of compliance teams.
- Excellent judgement used for managing risk, improving safety and knowing when and how to apply discretion in compliance operations.
- Substantial experience leading, developing and inspiring teams and people who lead teams
- Excellent organisational skills that mean statutory and reporting timelines are met and the branch operates in an orderly way
- Demonstrated experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets and service contracts.
- Highly developed communication and relationship management skills and political savvy
- A current working with children check is required for this role.
