Concrete Field Technical Supervisor

Economix is seeking an experienced and reliable Concrete Field Technical Supervisor to join their team at Dandenong or Deer Park, VIC.
You will be responsible for overseeing field and plant-based quality control activities to ensure all concrete products meet company, client, and regulatory standards. This role provides technical support to production and project teams across all plants, including Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) and major infrastructure projects, ensuring full compliance with specifications and supporting continuous improvement across operations.
Duties include, but not limited to:
- Supervise and perform on-site and plant quality control testing of concrete and constituent materials in accordance with Australian Standards, VicRoads Section 610, and DTP project specifications.
- Monitor batching operations, mix consistency, and plant performance, ensuring products meet approved mix design and quality requirements.
- Conduct site inspections, sampling, and slump verification across DTP and major project sites, providing timely feedback to production and technical teams.
- Assist in mix design trials, investigations, and adjustments under guidance to optimize performance, durability, and sustainability outcomes.
- Record, analyze, and report test data and batch results, identifying trends, deviations, and opportunities for improvement.
- Lead or assist in root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and monitor the effectiveness of implemented measures.
- Collaborate with plant, transport, and site personnel to ensure correct batching, delivery, and placement practices across all operations.
- Maintain accurate quality documentation and records in compliance with the ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
- Promote and adhere to all Work Health, Safety, and Environmental standards, ensuring a safe and compliant working environment.
- Provide technical guidance, training, and support to plant and field staff to enhance operational capability and quality awareness.
- Liaise with customers, contractors, and major project representatives, ensuring all technical and quality requirements are met efficiently and professionally.
Required skills and experience:
- Demonstrated experience in concrete production, quality control, or field testing within the construction materials industry.
- Well-developed management and coordination skills, including planning, organizing, and evaluating field and plant activities.
- Previous supervisory experience in a technical, quality, or operational role, preferably within concrete or quarry environments.
- Sound knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, VicRoads Section 610, and DTP project requirements.
- Intermediate to advanced computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office programs and data management systems such as SharePoint.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and address quality or process deviations promptly.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across all levels of the business and with external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment, maintaining a proactive and organized approach to work.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Current driver's license and willingness to travel to various plant and project sites as required.
