The Role
MSF Sugar is currently seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Fitter to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. This role is based at our Tableland Mill, located approximately 25km west of Mareeba on the Atherton Tablelands.
As a Mechanical Fitter, you will play a key role in supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the factory. You'll be part of a dedicated team providing mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and monitoring of equipment to ensure consistent performance throughout the crushing season.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on factory equipment and systems
 - Respond promptly to breakdowns and troubleshoot issues to minimise downtime
 - Follow company safety policies, procedures, and permit-to-work systems
 - Conduct regular inspections and monitoring of machinery performance
 - Work collaboratively within a small team or independently with minimal supervision
 - Participate in a rotating shift roster
 
The ideal candidate will have:
- Qualified Mechanical Fitter trade certificate (essential)
 - Previous experience in sugar milling or other heavy industrial/factory maintenance environments (highly regarded)
 - High Risk Advanced Boiler Ticket (BA) and/or Turbine Ticket (desirable)
 - Additional licences or certifications such as forklift, loader, or dogging tickets (advantageous)
 - Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement
