Allygroup is hiring law students or experienced paralegals for multiple secondment opportunities for a high-profile federal government agency. These roles offer a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in a professional legal environment, contribute to meaningful public sector work, and build lasting networks within government.
Successful candidates will be placed in a fast-paced and dynamic setting, engaging with complex legislation and administrative processes. The role is open to people in different state.
Key duties may include:
- Administering and coordinating legal support functions, including financial management, reporting, database administration, file and record management, logistical support, and workflow coordination
- Arranging and administering supplementary legal resources, including personnel, to support legal services, events, and training
- Applying legal knowledge to assist in formal legal and administrative processes, including those involving courts, tribunals, inquiries, and government administration
- Drafting legal and administrative correspondence and documentation to support legal officers
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to support legal service delivery
- Facilitating participation in legal and administrative forums
- Assessing and directing tasks in accordance with established practices and principles
- Evaluating workflows and office practices to identify risks and opportunities for improvement
- Conducting legal research to support legal officers
Our ideal candidates will have:
- Strong interest in government affairs, public policy, and legislative processes
- Excellent critical thinking and attention to detail
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism
Previous experience in a legal support role (e.g., paralegal, law clerk, legal admin) is highly desirable.
