We are seeking a passionate and culturally grounded
Aboriginal Mental Health Liaison Officer
to join our team. This vital role supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and communities by bridging cultural understanding between clients and mental health services. You will play a key part in improving access, engagement, and outcomes for Aboriginal people experiencing mental health challenges.
The successful applicant shall liaises and negotiates with Aboriginal communities and health professionals in the Peel Community area to develop, plan and implement of culturally safe mental health services. Works in partnership with Assertive Treatment Team and case managers, as a key worker, to provide cultural consultation and broker engagement with cultural traditional healers.Supports and advocates for Aboriginal people in their contact with mental health services Our Values guide our work in every action, and that includes recruitment and employment SMHS encourages Aboriginal people, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds or LGBTI communities, and people with disability to work with us. WA Health engages staff in positions of trust and responsibility. WA Health policies require applicants to undertake criminal records screening and integrity checking as part of the appointment process. Referees may also be asked to comment on an applicant's integrity and past demonstration of ethical behaviour.
Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the health service. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
