Are you a whiz in the kitchen who loves whipping up nutritious and delicious food for children?
We are looking for a passionate and motivated Chef or Cook to come and join our team Monday to Friday for 6 working hours to provide healthy and nutritious meals to the children in our care.

The Role
Nutrition is so important to us at Insight Early Learning and preparing a variety of different meals every day helps the children grow strong and develop a healthy attitude towards food that can last a lifetime. You will be supporting the framework that eating is a pleasurable experience by introducing children to a variety of food from a range of cultures.
Your role is vital to the success of our service, and we look forward to working with someone who takes pride and joy in sharing their knowledge and culinary skills with the Insight family. In this role, you will also be contributing to the Quality Improvement Plan for the service in relation to food safety and handling and cooking experiences for children.
A regular day in this role will involve:
- Preparing nutritionally balanced and culturally appropriate meals for all children, taking into consideration their individual dietary requirements and allergies.
- Demonstrating a high level of understanding and knowledge of the nutritional standards set by the Australian Food and Beverage classification system.
- Ensuring health and safety guidelines are adhered to in the kitchen, including food preparation and service area.
- Evaluating the menu on a regular basis.
- Being aware of, and assisting in the management of the food budget including the choices of food and use of purchases.
- Maintaining kitchen cleanliness and ensuring general day-to-day procedures are followed.
- Interacting and engaging with all children and their families; building meaningful relationships.
- Maintaining a positive and motivated work ethic in the kitchen and with all team members.
- Working collaborative with other team members within the kitchen and throughout the service.
- Providing assistance to the teaching team regarding food and cooking experiences for children.
What you will bring:
- Current and valid Working with Children Check
- Current and valid Food Handling certificate
- Current and valid Food Safety certificate
- Experience working in a commercial kitchen environment
- Warm, Empathetic and bubbly personality
- Willingness to work as a team
- Willingness to learn and upskill
- Current and valid First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis certificates or willingness to obtain one
