Northrop Grumman Australia partners with the Royal Australian Air Force to provide through-life support for its fleet of C-27J Spartan Battlefield Airlifter aircraft. The C-27J complements the Australian Defence Force's existing Air Mobility fleet and provides airlift of people, equipment and supplies in Australia and our region.

We are now seeking a suitably experienced and qualified Senior Avionics Engineer responsible for supporting the development of avionics/electrical modifications to the aircraft through design, certification and other technical support processes. Activities undertaken will include those under DASR 21 Design Production and Certification and DASR M Continuing Airworthiness Management Services (CAM Services) as required.

As a senior engineer, you will have the opportunity to coach, mentor and delegate tasks accordingly to members of the team. Your responsibilities will also include performing peer review, review and approval of engineering activities, whilst exercising individual judgment and initiative in the application of engineering principles, techniques and methods.

The position can be based in Springfield Lakes, QLD or Richmond, NSW - other locations may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Key duties and responsibilities:

Development, Review & Approval of various aircraft Avionics / Electrical and/or Electronic System Modifications including all supporting documentation, within the scope and level of delegated Engineering Authority assigned under Part 21 MDO and/or Part M CAM Services.
Hold Engineering Authority (EA) as a Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) under DASR Part 21J to authorize minor changes to type design & repairs and compliance check of major designs in support of DASA approval.
Application of Systems Engineering processes across the product lifecycle.
Provide coordination and support to project management of tasks through the design development and installation phases.
Provide advice to internal/external stakeholders and representing the team on specific projects, technical issues and in various intra-/inter-organisational meetings as required.
Provide oversight and review work of junior engineers for technical accuracy, adequacy and quality.

Qualifications & Experience:

Relevant engineering degree (Avionics/Electrical/Mechatronics).
Experience as a Professional Engineer in the aviation industry.
Working knowledge of CASA/DASA/EASA regulations.
Understanding of Configuration Control and Design Change Management.
Must be an Australian citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Defence security clearance.
