The Role
Reporting to the Test Automation & Performance Manager, this role provides development coaching and leadership to Automation Engineers, DevOps Engineers, Testers and Software Engineers on techniques and practices for implementing quality through the delivery lifecycle. Your collaboration with cross-functional teams will ensure the consistent delivery of maintainable, reliable, and scalable software solutions.

The role is also responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining robust frameworks and tooling to elevate testing capabilities across our software applications.

Accountabilities

• Embedded consulting within delivery teams to establish test automation approaches tailored for the team and the software they need to deliver and maintain
• Designing and building tools that help delivery teams automate their testing more efficiently
• Working with DevOps cohort to setup and maintain infrastructure as code for test automation platforms and tooling
• Pairing with developers, test engineers and senior test engineers to knowledge share and solicit coalface feedback with respect to all aspects of code quality
• Tool evaluation and analysis
• Curation of automation code standards
• Backlog prioritisation

Skills, Knowledge And Qualifications
Essential technical skills
:

• Experience of building and operating software using: Java 17+, a SPA frontend framework, (ideally Angular 15+), GitLab, Terraform and Docker.
• Familiarity with various testing frameworks such as Cypress, and Playwright.
• Experiencedin utilising CI/CD tools such as GitLab, AWS for seamless integration and deployment processes.

Knowledge And Experience

• 5+ years leading mature Technical Test teams.
• Demonstrated knowledge in the creation and maintenance of CI pipelines and best practices relating to Test Automation in CI/CD delivery.
• Understanding of AGILE testing methods and the role Test Automation plays.
• Demonstrable expert knowledge in automated test practices, tools and techniques.
• Excellent communication skills, including with technical staff, end-users, and management. The ability to assimilate information quickly and present findings in a concise and meaningful way is key.

Qualifications, Education & Training Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• Professional certifications in software testing (e.g., ISTQB) or related fields will be a plus.
• Knowledge of Auto and General products and services.
