The Opportunity

As a member of the herd reproduction team you will be involved with all aspects of herd reproduction and breeding. Using CowManager as a tool for heat detection, our Reproduction Technicians have an integral role in our advanced genetic program with opportunities to develop skills in palpation, AI, embryo transfer and pregnancy testing with ultrasound.

AFMH operates multiple sites across eastern Australia. Dairy operations are located at Moxey Farms in Gooloogong, NSW, as well as Coomboona Farms in Coomboona, VIC. In addition, AFMH operates Ladysmith Farms a young stock operation near Wagga Wagga, NSW and extensive cropping land in Torrumbarry, VIC.

Key accountabilities include:

• Participate in all aspects of herd reproduction, including AI, heat detection, synchronisation programs, ultrasound pregnancy diagnosis and embryo transfer
• Assist with aspects of herd health. From time to time, this will include monitoring transition, fresh and milking cows and diagnosis of common health conditions
• Assist with aspects of maternity including calving, processing of fresh cows and care of newborn calves
• Maintaining accurate records relating to herd activities
  Periodic relief in the milking parlour

The successful applicant will possess:

• Previous experience with livestock essential
• Previous experience in livestock reproduction desirable
• Knowledge in herd management including experience from reputable and world leading large scale dairy farm/s preferred
  Experience with herd software programs including Dairy Comp 305 or electronic monitoring systems such as CowManager an advantage
