The Opportunity: We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Part-Time (2-3 days per week) Work, Health & Safety Advisor to join our team based at South Windsor. In this role, you will be an integral part of our team, working closely with the General Manager and the Executive team to support the business across the full range of Work, Health & Safety activities. As the Work, Health and Safety Advisor, you will be accountable for the maintenance of the current Integrated Management System (ISO 45001, 14001 & 9001) in place across the business. This will include updating policies and procedures as and when required. The business recently passed its ISO certification, however there will be continued maintenance and upgrades to systems on a continuous basis.
You will support the team on all matter's health, safety, environment and quality. This will include working closely with Project Managers, Engineers and Supervisors to ensure safe practices are being promoted with direct staff and sub-contractors on site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinating and maintaining the Integrated Management System
- Assisting the General Manager with company strategy for HSEQ initiatives.
- Carrying out audits
- Supporting the Project Manager/s and team to promote safety culture.
- Demonstrating sound people management skills by managing work and performance to achieve outcomes
- Partner with leaders across the business to drive safety compliance and initiatives for their functions.
- Provide interpretation and counsel to leaders regarding WHS compliance.
- Review, update, and create new IMS policies and procedures as required.
- Ensure safety certifications and licenses are up to date and manage administration to ensure compliance.
- Ongoing review and maintenance of our IMS, including Risk Management, SOPs, Incident Reporting, Emergency Management, and Contractor Management.
- Lead the newly developed Health & Safety Committee, including participants across all functions.
- Lead and drive safety training, and work with leaders to ensure teams complete training within specified time frames.
- Complete monthly Safety Reporting to the Executive team and Australian Security Fencing Board.
- Act as the company Return to Work Coordinator and manage Workers Compensation Claims to closure.
Skills and Experience Required:
- 3-5 years of experience working in Work Health & Safety.
- Tertiary qualification in Safety or a related field (desirable, not essential).
- Intermediate MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong communication skills – written and verbal.
- Experience in partnering closely with a business to drive people-related initiatives.
