Empowering People. Powering Progress.

Shell Health's purpose is to empower our people and our business to thrive through care. As the world evolves, so too must Shell Health—adapting to a dynamic external environment and the changing needs of the Shell organization in delivering the Powering Progress strategy. We enable business outcomes by delivering science-based health expertise and services, and by cultivating a sustainable culture of care that helps people be at their best.

If you are passionate about health management and want to make a meaningful impact to workforce health and wellbeing in a dynamic, global environment, this is your opportunity to shape the future and grow in a supportive global company that is powering the lives of millions.

What's the role

As a Senior Health Lead you play a pivotal role in managing risks, preventing harm and supporting physical, psychological & social wellbeing of workers at our operations in Australia.

You will be a key member of our multidisciplinary Shell Health Australia Team as well as a valued member of Shell Health's global community. Reporting to the Health Manager Australia, you will help position Shell as an industry leader in workforce health and wellbeing.

What you'll be doing

You will be responsible for integrating diverse employee health needs across office, project, and operational environments, while responding to evolving business demands. You will manage key stakeholders and deliver on Health's strategic objectives that support workforce wellbeing and business performance.

In this role you will:

  • Implement Shell Group health strategy across Australian business units, focusing on QGC, ensuring compliance with laws and industry standards.
  • Oversee occupational health and hygiene services, ensuring quality delivery through direct efforts or managed providers.
  • Support capital projects and Shell Energy initiatives, aligning with global standards and leveraging international expertise.
  • Lead psychosocial risk management efforts and promote Health Promotion & Performance (HP&P) programs, enhancing physical, mental and social wellbeing, resilience, and sustainable performance across Shell Australia.
  • Provide strategic health leadership, including contractor oversight, stakeholder engagement, fostering matrix collaboration and embedding operational efficiency concepts.

What you bring

When it comes to nurturing collaborative stakeholder relationships, your excellent managerial and interpersonal skills, and your ability to influence and inspire, will be key to driving meaningful change. You will lead by example, creating an environment where others feel empowered to deliver high performance through clear intent, aligned priorities, and focus on outcomes. You will champion a Learner Mindset within the team, fostering a culture of diversity, inclusivity and psychological safety where continuous improvement and innovation are encouraged. By promoting open dialogue and valuing diverse perspectives, you will help identify more efficient, effective ways of working that contribute directly to our success.

You will also bring:

  • A primary Degree in a health-related field (e.g. Medicine, Nursing, Psychology, Social/Behavioral Sciences or other Allied Health discipline) or a relevant science-related discipline. Postgraduate tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health or Human Factors are highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in broad health areas, including health promotion and performance, preferably within the oil and gas or a comparable high-risk industry. This is ideal for mid-senior level professionals.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing health and wellbeing programs and initiatives with measurable outcomes.
  • Experience in contract management, including oversight of service delivery and performance evaluation.
  • Proven ability to engage, influence, and build trust with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with a track record of fostering collaboration, shaping positive team culture, and delivering results through others.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent project management, communication, and time management skills, committed to safety leadership and continuous improvement.

APPLICATION PERIOD WILL RUN UNTIL NOVEMBER 4.

Shell in Australia

Shell has operated in Australia since 1901. From operating Australia's first oil refinery, which was central to meeting Australia's fuel needs, to fuelling the first Qantas commercial flight in the 1920s, to playing a foundation role in building some of Australia's largest and most innovative natural resource developments.

Throughout this 124-year relationship the needs of our customers and the nation have changed and we have continued transforming our portfolio to meet these needs. Shell has a significant Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) business in Australia that makes a valuable contribution to today's energy supply. This integrated gas portfolio includes our two Shell-operated gas production and liquefaction businesses, Shell QGC in Queensland and Prelude Floating LNG offshore in Western Australia, and our joint venture interests in Gorgon and North West Shelf in Western Australia and Arrow Energy in Queensland.

Today, Shell's portfolio in Australia also includes zero- and low-carbon energy businesses such as commercial and industrial retailer, Shell Energy carbon farming specialist, Select Carbon the 120MW Gangarri solar development; residential energy retailer, Powershop Australia a 49% stake in WestWind Australia a 50% share of Kondinin Energy and several grid-scale Battery Energy Storage Solutions projects.
