Role opportunity
This important role provides executive leadership and direction for LGA's member services functions. Tasked with delivering services that build sector capacity, you will deliver progress on LGA's strategic objectives to support the local government sector in South Australia.
The Executive Director Member Services participates as a member of the LGA's Executive Leadership Team and engages with members at all levels, responding to the current and emerging needs of councils.
In this role you will:
- Provide strategic leadership for the Member Services division, designing and overseeing new initiatives and major projects that enable new or evolving deliverables.
- Oversee the design and implementation of a new Member Engagement Framework, including principles, tiers of engagement, feedback and relationship management tools. This aims to strengthen how LGA listens to, supports and engages with its members.
- Oversee and report on division budgets, ensure quality assurance across work, including that statutory responsibilities are met.
- Build, develop and maintain long-term strategic relationships with key stakeholders, member councils, the LGA Board, our subsidiaries, government partners and Commitees.
- Work closely with the Advocacy, Policy and Communications teams, to ensure that evidence-based policy research can be used effectively to promote the role of local government and advocate to State and Federal Government on behalf of members.
- Define and measure the LGA Member Value Proposition, drawing on benchmarking and insights from similar national and state associations.
- Strengthen partnerships with Regional LGAs and key sector partners (LG Professionals SA, industry bodies and service providers) to deliver integrated support to councils.
About you
You'll bring exceptional leadership skills, aligning diverse teams and foster strong collaboration to deliver LGA's vision and strategic intent.
You will need:
- Commercial acumen and a proven ability to build effective relationships with customers and commercial partners.
- Demonstrated success leading cultural or system change around stakeholder engagement or member/customer experience.
- Experience as a senior manager within a sizeable service organisation in a government setting or private sector equivalent.
- Experience in preparing professional submissions and business cases and briefing a Board and executive team.
- Demonstrated success in shaping and strengthening stakeholder engagement and member/customer experience.
