About the Opportunity
This is a permanent part-time opportunity working 28hours week based in Dubbo with flexible WFH arrangements and some travel required

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Financial Counsellor to join Uniting's Communities team in Western NSW.

This newly funded role will support individuals, families, and communities to navigate financial challenges, build financial capability, and make informed decisions about money.

You'll deliver one-on-one and group financial counselling and capability sessions, empowering people to improve their financial wellbeing and resilience.

As a new role, you'll also play a part in shaping and evolving how Uniting delivers financial wellbeing services across the region.

About You in the Role
You'll bring a passion for helping others, a strengths-based approach, and an ability to connect with people from all walks of life.

  • Provide information, advice, and advocacy to clients experiencing financial hardship.
  • Work collaboratively with community and support services to ensure holistic care.
  • Deliver financial education sessions on budgeting, money management, and financial literacy.
  • Empower clients to make confident, informed financial decisions in a safe, inclusive, and non-judgmental environment.

About You
You'll hold a Diploma in Financial Counselling and be (or be willing to become) a member of the Financial Counsellors Association of NSW.

You'll also have:

  • Strong knowledge of financial hardship frameworks, budgeting, and debt management.
  • Excellent communication, empathy, and advocacy skills.
  • Confidence working independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • A current driver's licence and willingness to travel when required

Even Better

  • Familiarity with the Australian Financial Counselling Code of Ethical Practice.
  • Understanding of debt legislation, consumer credit law, and bankruptcy processes.
  • Experience navigating complex service systems and fostering community partnerships.
