About the role

This role provides speech pathology services within the WCHN Central Early Childhood and Family Service team, at various community locations, for children aged from birth to preschool entry. As a member of a multidisciplinary team, responsibilities include assessment, therapeutic intervention, and referrals to other health professionals.

Key duties of the role

  • Develop and deliver tailored speech pathology services for young children and families, focusing on complex developmental delays, parent-child relationships, and high vulnerability.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments using standardised and informal tools, interpreting results to guide accurate diagnosis and intervention strategies.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, offering consultative services, providing training, and contributing to the development of quality client management programs.
  • Manage and prioritise client caseloads, ensuring professional communication and adherence to organisational policies and values in a community health setting.

Skills and Experience

  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles membership of Speech Pathology Australia
  • Experience working with the application of attachment theory to therapeutic individual and group programs
  • Possess and utilise high level of skill in assessment, diagnosis and treatment of a broad range of communication disorders
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a complex and varied workload including individual and group work in the early childhood field
