Casual Sales Assistant – Haymes Paints Palmerston

We are seeking a Casual Sales Assistant to join our friendly Palmerston team. This role offers a variety of tasks both in-store and on the road, with full on-the-job training provided. While prior retail experience is desirable, paint knowledge is not essential – just bring a great attitude, reliability, and a willingness to learn.

This position may suit someone with confidence in customer service, making it a great opportunity for those looking to bring their maturity, reliability, and work ethic to our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent service, advice, and product solutions to trade and retail customers.
  • Assist customers in-store with purchases, tinting, and product selection.
  • Deliver paint and associated products to customers in a timely and professional manner.
  • Load and unload delivery vehicles, ensuring correct items and quantities are dispatched.
  • Replenish stock, including lifting 15L paint drums.
  • Maintain store presentation, visual merchandising, and housekeeping standards.
  • Handle payments and process transactions accurately.
  • Keep up to date with new products and colour trends.
  • Comply with all workplace health and safety procedures.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Current and valid driver's licence (manual preferred but not essential) to assist with deliveries.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Physical capacity to perform manual tasks (lifting to 30KG).
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic computer skills (POS systems, Microsoft Office).
  • Previous retail, delivery, or warehouse experience desirable but not essential.
