We're looking for a lighthearted, enthusiastic, and independent team member to join our tutoring team.

My name is Chris. I launched Math Methods MasterMind in June of 2023.

We work with VCE Math Methods students who are struggling. Our mission is to help them get back on track to achieve their dream study score.

We achieve this through a combination of:

1. Private classes: tailored to the needs of each student.

2. Group classes: to teach the fundamentals of each topic.

3. Written and recorded resources: to simplify the learning experience.

4. Direct message access: to ensure our students always have someone to turn to when they get stuck.

Jobs in science and technology are becoming more and more important. Our goal is to give students the best possible chance of entering those fields, so they can build a strong and successful future.

Position Title: VCE Math Methods Tutor

Seeking a Fully Remote VCE Methods Tutor…

We're looking for a lighthearted, enthusiastic, and independent team member to join our tutoring team.

This is a role which will give you the opportunity to:

1. Develop your teaching and communication skills by working closely with students and parents.

2. Enjoy the flexibility of remote work, and set your own schedule.

3. Mentorship and professional development, for those who want to excel in their career.

We are looking for tutors to teach at least 5 private classes per week. We actively encourage you to take on as many students as you can handle over time.

You should have reliable access to Wi-Fi, your own computer, and a smartphone with a data plan.

We are aiming to have this role begin with us by 1st July or sooner.

Details on the VCE Math Methods Tutor Role

The perks :

• Contractor hourly rate between $30-50 AUD plus bonuses, depending on your experience.

• Fully remote, location independent.

• Flexible schedule.

• Mentorship.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Private Tutoring

• Conduct weekly classes with our students, helping them with their specific struggles.

• Use Math Methods MasterMind resources or otherwise to simplify the learning process.

• Offer specific homework recommendations to overcome each student's current struggles.

• Answer questions that come your way outside of class hours (yes, you will be paid for this ).

• Build a genuine connection with your students.

• Manage any rescheduling requests.

• Commit to supporting your students until they graduate. (There's nothing worse than losing a good teacher right before your exam).

Group Tutoring (optional)

• Run 3 small group classes per week, following the Math Methods MasterMind Syllabus.

• Use Math Methods MasterMind resources or otherwise to simplify the learning process.

• Answer questions that come your way outside of class hours (yes, you will be paid for this ).

Progress Tracking

• Track student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as needed.

• Maintain records of sessions, progress reports, and other documentation.

• Prepare and present regular progress updates to parents.

• Collaborate with parents and teachers to offer holistic support for the student

Successful applicants should have:

• A love for education. You believe sharing what you know to help others do the best they can.

• Adaptability and patience. You understand that not all students learn the same. You are comfortable with adjusting the pace of the lesson to suit your student.

• You love getting to know people. You're genuinely interested in connecting with your student. This will make the lessons you run more fun and engaging for both you and your student.

• Ability to work on your own. You have no issues learning from guides, and getting work done independently.

• Strong interpersonal skills. You're willing to have honest (and sometimes hard) conversations with, parents or students. Keeping their best interests in mind.

Requirements:

• Must have completed VCE Math Methods.

• Valid Working With Children Check (can be obtained after confirmation of role)

• Ability to explain concepts clearly, with key examples.

• The ability to work effectively without much supervision once you're up to speed.

• Random bullet point to see if you're paying attention. If you are, add 'code uncoded' next to your name in the application

• The desire to develop your teaching and communication skills.

• Software technical knowledge of Zoom, Google Drive, OBS (Recording Software).

• Smartphone Phone Holder to act as a document camera for handwritten notes. (roughly $20)

• Own one of either TI-nspire CAS, or CASIO Classpad CAS. (Both preferred)
