We are partnering with an ambitious and growth-focused mining company to appoint a Geology Manager who will lead the efforts to further expand and define current resources in Western New South Wales.

Our client is a dynamic, small-to-mid-tier mining business with an established, producing base metals operation and working toward bringing a second project into production within the next few years. They foster a collaborative, non-hierarchical culture and are seeking a Geology Manager who thrives in hands-on environments and has a background in operational management and team leadership.

The Opportunity
In the role of Geology Manager you will have real and significant impact on the future success of the company. Your key objectives will be to provide critical leadership in managing all geological activities, provide strategic direction in the efforts to build the existing resource at the current underground operations as well as leading the further the definition on their nearby high-grade project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and further develop a large and expanding geology team and drilling contractors.
  • Develop exploration and extraction strategies aligned with company objectives
  • Manage a significant geology budget
  • As a Competent Person provide accurate and relevant reporting
  • Drive continuous improvement across performance, and cost efficiency
  • Collaborate closely with technical, financial, and corporate teams in a flat-structured, hands-on environment

Candidate Profile

  • Degree-qualified in Geology or a related technical discipline
  • Proven operational leadership experience in the exploration and/or mining sector, ideally having been exposed to both large-scale and smaller agile base metals organisations.
  • A collaborative, down-to-earth leadership style with a strong practical orientation
  • Ability to travel to site regularly
  • Ideally based on the east coast of Australia
