ABOUT THE ROLE –
This role is approximately 7 hours per week from February to August
We are seeking Specialist Talls Coaches to join our Junior Academy Program
As a recognised expert in the development of 'tall' players (rucks, key forwards, key defenders), you'll work closely with our junior pathway athletes (ages providing tailored coaching that directly addresses the unique physical and tactical demands of these positions. Reporting to the Academy Lead and Pathway Skills & Acquisition Coach, your role is to design and execute targeted skill development sessions, marking, bodywork, mobility, and positional craft, and share insights drawn from your own elite playing and coaching experiences.
You would assist young Talls in understanding the talent pathway system—what makes them stand out, how they progress their development, and what benchmarks they should be aiming to meet.
These roles contribute significantly to the successful operation of our Tasmania Talent Pathway Programs. The specialist Talls Coaches are primarily responsible for supporting the Regional Academy Talent Leads (Boys & Girls) and the Talent Pathways Skills Acquisition Coach in the development of our key position Junior Academy players. The Tasmania Junior Academy Program provides a unique football landscape in that it has, as a primary goal, the focus of the development of individual players in the program.
These roles are employed across the three regions (North, North-West and South) which include coaching boys and girls years of age.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF
Key Accountabilities
- Provide support to the relevant coach in the planning of training and match days.
- Actively drive and contribute to a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment for the players and an overall positive and respectful culture within the region.
- Work with individual players to improve their fundamental skills and to provide guidance and confidence in their football careers.
- Provide specialist coaching to our key position players educating the players under your charge.

- Must be able to commit to working nights and some weekends
- A valid Working With Vulnerable People card is required

- AFL Silver Coaching Accreditation (was Level 2) or working towards AFL Coaching accreditation
