Platform Engineer

Location:

CloudOps Engineering Manager

The Opportunity:

Live sport. Breaking news. Prime-time streaming. This team keeps it online 24/7.

This isn't backend support, it's national infrastructure. Built and run by a small, high-impact Cloud Ops team inside Australia's largest locally owned media group. You'll work alongside SREs and DevOps engineers to build, run, and improve the cloud platform that powers publishing, broadcast, data, and digital products used by millions every day.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Running and scaling Kubernetes infrastructure in production
  • Improving reliability, observability, and operational tooling
  • Building clean, secure delivery pipelines with Terraform, CDK, and CI/CD tooling
  • Driving cost efficiency and operational maturity across AWS and GCP
  • Partnering with product, cyber, data, and AI teams on cross-cutting initiatives
  • Championing shift-left security and infrastructure-as-code best practices

What you bring:

  • Strong experience with AWS or GCP services, including compute, storage, networking, and security.
  • Proven Kubernetes operational experience at scale
  • Deep knowledge of IaC and CI/CD
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, Go, TypeScript, Shell)
  • A track record of improving platform performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
  • Clear thinking and calm under pressure
