The Engineering (Mechanical) Tradesperson is a member of the Workshop team and is responsible for performing relevant functions within the traditional fitters' trade including machining, maintenance, rectifications, fabrication and general welding tasks. The role also contributes to solving practical/design problems as they arise. A key focus of the role is to provide a high level of customer service in undertaking these activities whilst emphasising safety, excellence, and integrity in all areas.
This exciting role will:
- Carrying out team objectives in an effective and efficient manner ensuring machining, maintenance, rectifications, fabrication and general welding tasks are completed in accordance with LMCC WHS Management System requirements.
- Prioritisation of workload, use of materials, labour, plant and resources to safely complete works in accordance with instructions, programs, plans specifications and statute authority requirements.
- Direct and supervise subordinate team members, apprentices and contract trade persons to ensure that safe work practices are adhered to and a high standard of work is set;
- Undertake high risk construction and installation of fabricated structures such as bus shelters, park shelters, handrails, etc.
- Scheduled periodic inspections and preventative maintenance of pump assets throughout the Local Government area.
- Provide a high level of customer to service to both internal and external customers including advice on design, the generation of technical drawings where required, materials and man-hours required to complete service requests.
- Undertake the testing, inspection and servicing of vehicle mounted cranes, elevated work platforms, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment, lifting and height safety equipment in accordance with WHS requirements and LMCC inspection frequencies
LET'S HEAR ABOUT YOU
- You hold Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical) or equivalent engineering trade qualification
- Hold Workcover certification or ability to obtain certification for Forklift and Dogging
- Stand out from the crowd if you have previous experience within a similar position
- Being passionate about working together to meet a common goal your teamwork skills are second to none.
- Your previous experience being able to work under minimal supervision will be evident.
- You hold a General Construction Induction Card and Current Class MR drivers' licence.
