The opportunity

Reporting to the Testing and Production Manager, you'll work in our purpose-built facility at Deakin University's Waurn Ponds campus, supporting the testing and development of cutting-edge battery cells.

This is a hands-on role designed to help you build experience, expand your capabilities, and position yourself for future opportunities in a rapidly evolving industry.

You will be responsible for:

  • Operation of various equipment to carry out safety testing of cells.
  • Safe handling of cells, materials and operating systems in accordance with company OH&S policies
  • Monitoring, calibration of and reviewing test equipment
  • Supporting the development of new testing methods for cells and modules
  • Recommending enhancements to improve quality and process for data extraction
  • Working as a key part of a growing team, including research scientists, engineers and production specialists
  • Support testing team as required

The successful candidate will have:

Essential:

  • Ability to operate complex testing equipment in a pilot or development environment (training provided)
  • Computing skills for testing and data extraction/analysis.
  • Strong practical and problem-solving skills, with a hands-on approach
  • Good communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to identify equipment issues to ensure good test results.
  • Eagerness to learn, with a proactive and enthusiastic approach to building new skills
  • Calibration and maintenance of test equipment to internal and external standards
  • Permanent residency or Australia Citizen

Desirable:

  • A degree in engineering or science (recent graduates encouraged to apply)
  • Machining and fabrication of experimental rigs
  • Experience in safety testing and/or product testing
  • Exposure to CAD and programming/modelling,
  • Experience working to standards (e.g. ISO9001) will be highly regarded.
