Purpose of the Role:

The Head of Department - Learning Futures leads strategic innovation in teaching and learning by empowering staff to streamline planning and preparation through the effective use of technology and differentiated instructional strategies. This role supports the development of future-focused pedagogies that enhance student outcomes and teacher efficacy across all curriculum areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Drive the integration of digital tools and platforms to simplify and enhance teacher planning, resource development, and curriculum delivery
  • Staff Capability Building: Design and deliver professional learning that supports differentiated planning approaches, catering to diverse teaching styles, experience levels, and classroom contexts.
  • Innovation in Pedagogy: Champion evidence-based, future-oriented teaching practices including blended learning, personalised learning pathways, and data-informed instruction.
  • Collaboration & Coaching: Work collaboratively with teaching teams to embed efficient planning workflows and inclusive learning strategies.
  • Change Management: Lead change initiatives that foster a culture of innovation, adaptability, and continuous improvement in teaching and learning practices.
