Purpose of the role
To provide high-quality instruction to Secondary students within the College's Protestant, Biblical framework, and to significantly contribute to a school culture founded on the College's Mission and Values and in which all students may experience a sense of Achievement, Belonging and Care.
About the position
This position is a teaching position within our Secondary school and will be assigned a teaching load focussed on Science subjects.
The successful applicant would work within a team of teachers who specialise in teaching Science and be supported by an Head of Department who can give guidance and support regarding the educational outcomes and curriculum delivery required.
This is a permanent position commencing Term 1 2026, based on the College's Secondary Campus.
All these tasks should be undertaken consistent with the Protestant, Biblical basis of the College and within the College's Health and Safety policies and procedures.
Requirements of the position
Applicants must hold a current teaching registration through the Queensland College of Teachers as at the start of the 2026 school year.
Alongside the inherent teaching and classroom management requirements in a teaching position, other requirements for this position are:
A strong commitment to Christian education and the ability to actively support the Christian ethos of Westside Christian College
Experience in teaching Junior Science and Senior Science subjects to Secondary students (Years 7-12)
- Experience in teaching Mathematics would be an advantage as a second teaching area
- Experience in developing a Science curriculum, including a knowledge of the changes to the senior curriculum within the Science subject areas
- Ability to foster an interest in Science within students, and to teach with passion, creativity and sensitivity
- A desire to contribute to co-curricular and extra-curricular activities within the life of the College
Applicants must have a practising Christian faith and be actively involved in a church.

Position hours and salary
As a classroom teacher you are not required to attend school during designated school holidays.
The salary for this position will be in line with the College's Enterprise Agreement wage rates for teachers.
