About The Role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced individual to join the Journey Beyond Rail Operations team based at the Adelaide Parklands Terminal as casual Rail Operations Coordinator/Signal Controller. In this role, you will be responsible for the operation of the Keswick Terminal's rail signal system and coordinating the safe, efficient shunting and movement of trains within the Adelaide Parklands Terminal operations.
The Rail Operations requirements at the Adelaide Parklands Terminal vary on a daily basis, and the successful applicant can expect their responsible duties to also be varied and include, but not be limited to:
- Manage and operate Adelaide Parklands Terminal yard signalling system.
- Authorise all train movements within Adelaide Parklands Terminal.
- Coordinate the safe shunting of rollingstock and rail movements within the Adelaide Parklands Terminal yard.
- Oversee and coordinate the arrival and departure of all JBRE trains at the Adelaide Parklands Terminal.
About You
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful applicant will require awareness and knowledge of Australian Standard Railway Safety Management and Rail National Code of Practice. This casual position will be engaged in duties of both a Signal Controller and Rail Operations Coordinator, covering varied shift times over a 7-day week and as such will need to be flexible with their working availability.
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Manage and operate Adelaide Parklands Terminal yard signalling system and authorise all train movements within Adelaide Parklands Terminal.
- Coordinate the shunting of rollingstock and rail movements within the Adelaide Parklands Terminal yard and assist with refuelling of powervan carriages and locomotives.
- Oversee and coordinate the arrival and departure of all JBRE trains at the Adelaide Parklands Terminal.
- Operate JBRE train wash facility.
- Monitor and manage the movements of, and provide rail protection for JBRE Staff, contractors and visitors and within Adelaide Parklands Terminal Platform areas and Yard.
- Authorise contractor and visitor entry within Adelaide Parklands Terminal yard.
- Using computerised train management system, process and issue operational documentation for PN train crews and relevant JBRE personnel.
- Assist with rail operations administrative tasks, yard maintenance and minor repairs to terminal equipment and Infrastructure.
