Lawrie's Boat Services, an established Sunshine Coast Boatyard is hiring a full-time Yardman (Mon. to Fri am to 4pm).

The role is varied and "hands on", involving working outdoors, incl. assisting our Straddle Carrier (mobile boat lift) operator, Fork Lift operation, use of other equipment, and ongoing support of our clients, tenants and contractors.

Our business provides marine hardstand facilities for private and commercial yacht and power boat owners to undertake marine repairs / maintenance, from basic boat cleaning & general repairs, through to specialist boating projects and extensive re-builds.

Whilst it is not a prerequisite, the role would suit someone who has a passion for boating or other marine based interests.

The role includes the following duties:

Assisting our Straddle Carrier Operators for the safe lifting of vessels out of, and into the water, placement / relocation of vessels on site and loading and unloading onto road transport.

Preparing vessel enclosures and assisting with vessel placement including cradling of vessels within work bays and other designated areas.

Fork lift operation to assist a variety of daily on site lifting activities

Boat yard operations incl. assisting clients, tenants, contractors, suppliers and other visitors

Implementation of our policies and procedures incl. WH&S and Environmental policies

Use of other specialist equipment incl. high pressure gurneys and mechanical cleaners

Repairs / maintenance / site cleaning as required

Other duties as delegated by management from time to time

Please note there is a requirement for manual labour and heavy lifting

Applicants must have the following skills, experience, and attributes:

Current open driver's licence

Current Fork Lift ticket / operator's licence

Physically fit & energetic

Strong interpersonal & communication skills

Honest, reliable, and self motivated

Able to take direction and work to timeframes

Knowledge of, and commitment to safe work practices (WHS)

The following skills are an advantage:

Boatyard operations & / or marina operations experience

Load Shifting Equipment experience

Slewing Crane experience

Dogging & Rigging licences

Straddle Carrier (Mobile Boat Lift) experience

Other High Risk Work Licences (HRW)

QLD Recreational Marine Licence

Microsoft Office computer skills
