Macweld Fabrications is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Structural and Architectural Steel Draftsman / Detailer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have experience preparing detailed steel fabrication and installation drawings, strong attention to accuracy, and the ability to coordinate with engineers, architects, and workshop personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare structural steel shop drawings and fabrication details
  • Interpret architectural and engineering drawings
  • Develop accurate workshop and site drawings using TEKLA/CAD software or any relevant
  • Ensure all drawings comply with relevant Australian standards and project specifications
  • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and workshop teams to resolve drawing issues
  • Should participate in online meetings to answer drafting related queries of clients
  • Update drawings as required throughout the project lifecycle
  • Ensure accuracy of material quantities, dimensions, and connections in all drawings

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in structural steel drafting or detailing
  • Proficiency in steel detailing software (e.g. AutoCAD, Tekla, or similar)
  • A background in Civil Engineering is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of steel fabrication processes and connections
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and workshop drawings
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Conducts a site visit to verify and confirm the drawing details
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to support trade-specific tasks with general administration when needed.
