About the role

Join our dynamic team at MAC Healthcare Services' as a Disability Support Worker in Canberra, ACT. What you'll be doing

  1. Assisting clients with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, and medication management
  2. Facilitating community inclusion and participation by accompanying clients to appointments, social events, and recreational activities
  3. Providing emotional support and encouragement to empower clients to develop their skills and independence
  4. Maintaining detailed records and reporting on client progress, ensuring consistent and quality care
  5. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement tailored support plans
  6. Adhering to all relevant policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure the wellbeing of clients and colleagues

What we're looking for

  1. A compassionate and patient approach with a genuine interest in supporting individuals with disabilities
  2. Relevant qualifications in disability, community services, or a related field, or a willingness to obtain these
  3. Experience in a similar role, providing direct care and support to clients in a community or residential setting
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with clients and their families
  5. The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
  6. A commitment to continuous learning and professional development
  7. A current driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
