Your opportunity
Are you passionate about driving real change in Indigenous health? Southern Cross University's Faculty of Health is seeking a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to work with the research team to co-design and implement strategies to increase cervical screening uptake among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women during pregnancy and postpartum. Your research expertise, cultural insight, and community engagement skills will directly contribute to improving health outcomes and reducing cervical cancer disparities.
You will make an impact by:
- Conducting high-quality research and contributing to publications and grant applications.
- Co-designing and implementing culturally safe, community-led interventions, engaging with Indigenous communities, healthcare providers, and policy makers to drive real-world impact.
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including NACCHO, to deliver project outcomes.
- Collecting, analysing, and reporting quantitative and qualitative data to inform health policy and practice.
What you will bring
This is an Indigenous identified position. Applicants must identify as an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
You are a dedicated researcher passionate about improving health outcomes for First Nations women. You thrive in collaborative, community-engaged projects and are committed to culturally safe, impactful research.
To succeed in this role, you will also need:
- Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in a related field of science, e.g., behavioural science, public health, epidemiology, community health, Indigenous health, nursing, social science, psychology, medicine.
- Demonstrated experience managing research projects or community-based initiatives, ideally in Indigenous settings.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of research publications and stakeholder engagement.

Your opportunity is:
- Part-time (60%), fixed term (3 years)
Located at Coffs Harbour, NSW 2450, with the possibility of remote work available for the right candidate. Relocation assistance is available, making it easier to join our regional communities.
Academic Level A or B.
- The base salary for a Level A ranges from $81,027 - $108,907 per annum, plus 17% employer's contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $127,421.
- The base salary for a Level B ranges from $114,482 - $135,392 per annum, plus 17% employer's contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $158,409.
