Forget behaviour management for 30 kids. Forget rigid timetables and teaching to standardised tests. This is teaching stripped back to what actually matters: one student at a time, building trust, and creating genuine breakthroughs.

Junction Support Services is seeking experienced, VIT-registered teachers to join our Education Support for Children in Care (ESCC) Program across the Gippsland region. This is a qualified teaching role - not a teacher aide or support position. Current VIT registration is essential.

You'll work one-on-one with children and young people in out-of-home care who are at risk of disengaging from education completely. These are kids who deserve an advocate, not another system that can't see them. You'll have the autonomy to design learning around their world - their interests, their pace, their goals - and the time to actually build the relationships that create change.

This pilot program was so successful, it's just been refunded to December 2027.

What You'll Do

One day each week, you'll be in our Morwell office with your team - collaborative planning, debriefs, sharing resources, support when you need it. The rest of your time is scheduled around your students: regular one-on-one sessions tailored to each young person's needs and availability, plus planning and programming time - all within paid hours, not stolen weekends.

You'll design and deliver personalised learning plans tailored to each student's interests and goals. You'll work alongside carers, case workers, and other professionals to build proper wraparound support. You'll maintain accurate records and contribute to Individual Education Plans. And most importantly, you'll create the kind of safe, trusting relationship that actually allows learning to happen.

Key Selection Criteria

• Bachelor of Education + current Victorian Teaching Registration (essential)
• Minimum 2 classroom years teaching experience
• Experience working with young people in care (Kinship, Foster, Residential, or Lead Tenant)
• Ability to tailor teaching strategies to each student's learning style
• Confidence working independently and building strong, trusting relationships
• Passion for equity in education and making a long-term difference
