ABOUT THE ROLE

Barker College is currently seeking an experienced Science Teacher based at our Hornsby campus.

This will be a Permanent Full-Time (1.0FTE) role commencing 1 January 2026 (New Staff Orientation is on 22 January 2026).

Barker College runs an orientation event for new staff on 22 January 2026, prior to the whole staff returning for Professional Development on 27 January 2026.

Applicants should be committed to providing quality teaching in a practical and engaging environment. They will be committed to excellence in pedagogy and be open to the integration of STEAM into their teaching programs and practice.

The successful applicants will be able to demonstrate a track record of:

  • Working and contributing to a team
  • An ability to deliver engaging lessons that develop students' skills in critical thinking, problem solving and scientific literacy.
  • Involvement or interest in inquiry based learning
  • A comprehensive understanding of key concepts and the ability to demonstrate practical techniques
  • An awareness and ability to provide and manage a safe laboratory environment
  • Appropriate use of ICT

The successful applicants must be able to demonstrate a specialist capacity to teach Stage 6 science.
