Your Role

An exciting opportunity exists to join the team at St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Clermont in the position of Facilities Officer (Groundsperson). This is a term-time continuing position for 16hpw, commencing January 2026. There will also be an opportunity for casual hours for training and handover, from November 2025.

We are seeking applicants who will contribute to the effective and efficient operation and environment of the school through a high level of personal motivation and initiative in the ongoing maintenance, beautification, and development of the school's facilities and grounds.

Reporting to the Principal, this role performs daily grounds and maintenance tasks including minor repairs and maintenance of school building and surrounds, gardening and grounds beautification and various other tasks as required.

Typical duties include but are not limited:-

  • Securing grounds and equipment – keeping our school safe
  • Mowing, trimming and fertilising lawns and turf areas
  • Repairing and maintaining irrigation systems
  • Weeding, planting and fertilising gardens
  • Outdoor cleaning and use of high-pressure water cleaner
  • Identify and assist with minor building maintenance – e.g., touch up painting and other minor repairs.
  • Assembling, moving, and relocating furniture
  • Assisting with the set-up of spaces for school events
  • Gardening and general caretaking of school buildings and gardens
  • Working with other grounds staff, as required
  • Rubbish and waste management
  • Working with, contractors to oversee major repairs and maintenance

About you

The successful applicant will have relevant experience and an understanding of, and a commitment to, the ethos of Catholic Education. In addition, you will have excellent time management skills and well developed interpersonal skills.

Mandatory Requirements

  • A current valid Blue Card under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 (WWC Act) and valid Suitability Notice is a requirement of the position.
