TESS Search Partners have been engaged by Transient Detect, an Adelaide-based, angel-backed IoT and AI startup focused on protecting and extending critical water infrastructure, to appoint an IoT Firmware Engineer. This role will develop next-generation low-power edge devices (TD.Edge) and integrate real-time sensing algorithms to deliver predictive insights for water utilities, with both local and international impact.
The IoT Firmware Engineer will own firmware development for STM32-based embedded hardware, implementing ultra-low-power sensing workflows, embedding algorithms for edge intelligence, optimising memory and power efficiency and supporting field deployments. The position involves close collaboration with hardware, software and product teams to ensure high-performance, reliable systems from prototype through to operational use.
The successful candidate will bring three or more years of experience in embedded systems or low-power firmware development, strong C/C++ skills for ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers and experience with RTOS or bare-metal systems. Familiarity with peripherals such as ADCs, DMA, RTC, SPI/I2C and GPIO, along with debugging tools such as ST-Link, oscilloscopes and logic analyzers, is required. Experience with edge intelligence, OTA updates, or commercial sensor platforms is highly desirable.
This role will suit a proactive, detail-oriented professional with strong systems thinking, problem-solving skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. Interested candidates are invited to apply by contacting Donna Ferris at TESS Search Partners on or apply via the link.
