Senior Consumer Partnerships Officer
About the role:
The Senior Consumer Partnerships Officer supports Safer Care Victoria's consumer and clinician engagement strategies by embedding the voices of people with lived and living experience into the design, delivery, and evaluation of safety improvement across the Victorian health system.
Reporting to the Manager, Consumer Engagement, the role is responsible for coordinating and delivering inclusive engagement activities that inform SCV's policy, frameworks, programs, and improvement initiatives. This includes the implementation of the Partnering in Healthcare Framework, facilitation of consumer and clinician panels, co-design projects, and forums that build trust, transparency, and shared ownership of safety solutions.
As a member of the team, this role will also support and respond to complaints and feedback raised with Safer Care Victoria and the Minister's Office, working in collaboration with the Health Complaints Commissioner. The Senior Consumer Partnerships Officer at times may be required to prepare clear and timely written responses, contributes to briefings for senior executives, and ensures that experience-based feedback is used to strengthen healthcare quality and safety at both service and system levels.
The role requires strong relationship management, facilitation, and communication skills, with the ability to translate diverse perspectives into insights that drive meaningful change. Working closely with internal teams, health services, consumers, clinicians, and government stakeholders, the Senior Consumer Partnerships Officer ensures SCV's engagement activities are credible, inclusive, and aligned with its commitment to safe, person-centred care across Victoria.

- Equivalent substantial professional experience in stakeholder engagement, co-design methodologies, or health system partnership development may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
- Postgraduate qualification in Health Services Management, Public Health, Community Engagement, or Policy Development is highly regarded.
- Formal training or certification in stakeholder engagement, co-design, project management, or systems thinking (e.g., IAP2, Lean, or equivalent) is advantageous.
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge and practical application of engagement frameworks and co-design methodologies within complex health systems.
- Strong expertise in embedding lived experience and consumer perspectives into safety and quality improvement initiatives.
- Experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating inclusive engagement strategies that involve diverse stakeholders, including marginalized and priority populations.
- Proven ability to manage complex partnership projects and engagement initiatives, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and measurable impact.
- Skilled in building and sustaining collaborative relationships with internal teams, consumers, clinicians, health services, and external partners to foster trust and shared purpose.
- Demonstrated capability providing expert advice and developing resources that support meaningful and authentic consumer and clinician engagement across system-wide safety programs.
What we offer:
- The opportunity to perform meaningful work, making direct contributions toward enabling Victorians to be the healthiest people in the world.
- A wide range of growth and development opportunities within the department and wider Victorian Public Service & Sector.
