Our major sites include University Hospital Geelong in Geelong's CBD, the McKellar Centre precinct in North Geelong, Barwon Health North in Norlane, and residential aged care facilities spanning the region. Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through various programs across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac.

About the role

Customer Service Officer – Admission Control
As a Customer Service Officer in Admission Control, you will provide outstanding service to patients, clients, and visitors at University Hospital Geelong, while supporting patient billing and collection functions within the Patient Accounts Office.

  • The Customer Services Department delivers a wide range of administrative support across Barwon Health, including Patient Liaison, Reception, Admissions, Cashiers, and Patient Accounts.
  • A key focus is optimising revenue from private patients (Private, DVA, TAC, Workcover, and Overseas patients) through strategic partnerships with clinical units and medical providers.
  • The team also supports departments to improve billing and admission processes, increase revenue streams, improve collection, and implement new billing initiatives.

Patient Liaison Administrator
As a Patient Liaison Administrator, you will provide high levels of customer service while taking responsibility for maximising private patient revenue. You will:

  • Work compassionately with patients and their families to obtain required documents for billing.
  • Perform billing functions for inpatient accounts.
  • Liaise effectively with Consultants, Private Health Insurers, Compensable Insurers, and internal and external stakeholders.

Switchboard Operator
As a Switchboard Operator, you will provide courteous, empathetic, and efficient customer service across Barwon Health's Switchboard functions, while following all standard communication, emergency, and alarm protocols.
