Wenona is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Psychologist to join our dynamic learning community. This role is vital in supporting the wellbeing and development of students kindergarten – Year 12, using evidence-based strategies and best practices to guide interventions.

The Position
The School Psychologist supports the academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development of students by applying expertise in mental health, learning, and behaviour. They will be responsible for the delivery of tailored counselling services to students, emphasising early intervention, proactive wellbeing programs, and the creation of individualised support strategies. The School Psychologist collaborates with educators, parents/carers, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments for all students and to strengthen connections between home and school. The School Psychologist will be part of the School Counselling and Psychological Services Team, reporting to the Lead Psychologist and Deputy Principal–Students.
Key priorities for the role include:
Assessment and Evaluation
- Conduct and interpret psychological and educational/cognitive assessments to identify students' cognitive, emotional, behavioural, and academic strengths and needs.
Prevention and Intervention
- Provide short-term individual counselling to students.
- Design and implement evidence-based early intervention programs for small groups and cohorts.
- Assist in crisis prevention and intervention, including risk assessments and postvention support.
- Deliver evidence based parenting interventions.
Consultation and Collaboration
- Consult with teachers, administrators, parents/carers, and external providers about learning, behaviour, and mental health concerns.
- Provide guidance and professional development to Wenona staff.
Program Development and Support
- Contribute meaningfully to Wenona's wellbeing initiatives, sharing expertise in child development.
- Support school-wide initiatives related to mental health, social-emotional learning, and behaviour.
- Analyse data to inform decision-making and improve student outcomes.
Child Protection
- Adhere to child protection legislation, ensuring student safety and compliance with regulations.
Professional Standards
- Engage in regular 1:1 supervision with the Lead Psychologist and peer supervision among the team.
- Engage in continued professional development and adhering to professional training requirements.
- Maintain clear, concise, and accurate records.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be an AHPRA Registered Psychologist along with APS eligibility. With strong interpersonal skills, discretion, and adaptability, you excel in building trust and fostering wellbeing. Your innovative approach supports student growth, and your commitment to child safety ensures an inclusive, engaging environment. The successful candidate will work collaboratively as a member of a team, value a sense of humour and demonstrate a positive approach as a member of the Wenona staff community.
