Project Archaeologist

Yulur Heritage is a company established by Wintawari Guruma Aboriginal Corporation (WGAC) to provide heritage consultancy services to WGAC and industry, private and public sector developers operating in the central Pilbara. WGAC is the body corporate that represents the interests of Eastern (Muntulgura) Guruma native title holders, and is responsible for the administration of Muntulgura Guruma heritage and native title matters.

Yulur Heritage is seeking experienced archaeologists and heritage professionals to join our growing team which provides heritage, archaeological, GIS, native title and heritage regulatory approval services. At Yulur we undertake multi-disciplinary research, on-country surveys and excavations with Muntulgura Guruma Traditional Owners and Elders for community and compliance purposes. We have a wide array of on-country fieldwork and  office-based projects planned for 2025, and we're looking for enthusiastic and motivated people who want to bring their skills, knowledge and experience to the team.

About You

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Project Archaeologist who has:

• A minimum of an Honours-level degree in archaeology, cultural heritage management, anthropology or other relevant field.
• A minimum of two years' archaeological or heritage management experience in consulting, industry or the public sector.
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated reporting and research skills
• Demonstrated skills using GIS software
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams in the delivery of cultural heritage services and projects
• Experience working in remote areas of Australia
• Ability and willingness to travel as required, including working remotely in the field
• Current manual C-Class Drivers License – Essential

You will have experience working with Aboriginal people, industry groups and government regulatory agencies, and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and appropriately. You will have a sound knowledge of heritage legislation at both the State and Federal level.

It is desirable but not essential that you have

• 4WD qualification
• First Aid qualification (Senior First Aid or equivalent)

There are up to three positions that are full-time, and based out of our Perth office, with remote area travel as required.
