Role Description
This is a full-time role located in Guildford. The consultant will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating effective bushfire risk management strategies across various sectors and land tenures, and providing advice to clients on regulatory requirements and best industry practices.
This is a specialist role within the team and will work closely with our Principal - Bushfire Technical to meet growing demand for land and reserve bushfire management planning. You will have opportunity to play a key role in developing exciting innovative bushfire management solutions to meet a range of outcomes in an evolving space.
Duties include undertaking site assessments and preparation of tailored plans to bushfire and land management objectives. This role may also include preparation of Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) Assessments, Bushfire Management Plans (BMP's) , Bushfire Emergency Plans and Bushfire Risk Assessments.
Qualifications and Criteria
- Qualification in Environmental Science, Fire engineering, Risk, Emergency Management or similar
- Familiarity with bushfire management, mitigation activities and relevant regulations is preferred
- Excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to analyse and comprehend research and guidelines from a wide array of fields as relevant to the various sectors including legislation, guidelines and standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to engage and collaborate with various stakeholders at all levels
- Experience in conducting bushfire risk assessments and developing bushfire management plans is desirable
- Experience in land and reserve management is desirable
- Experience in bushfire behaviour including firefighting and bushfire operations is an advantage
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong problem-solving skills and initiative skills
- Experience with GIS is preferred
- BPAD Accreditation is advantageous
