Lead Data Scientist
to lead our Advanced Analytics team. The successful candidate will champion the use of data-driven decision-making across the organisation. In this role, you'll be instrumental in inspiring , shaping and delivering a roadmap of advanced statistical models and machine learning solutions that directly improve customer experiences and business performance.
About the Role
As the Lead Data Scientist, you will be leading a team to build, test, deploy and run a suite of statistical models and analytical projects. You'll work closely with key business divisions—from Membership and Digital to Insurance and Roadside—to identify and solve complex challenges.
You'll act as a
champion and enabler
for data-driven solutions, bridging the gap between advanced analytics and business needs. Your expertise will not only lead to increased efficiency but will also solidify the team's reputation as the go-to centre of excellence for data science within RACV.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership:
Manage and mentor the Advanced Analytics team, providing technical guidance and a clear vision for the future. - Business Partnership:
Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver user-friendly solutions that leverage advanced statistics, machine learning, and deep learning. - Communication & Evangelism:
Proactively communicate the value of data science, train business users, and champion the adoption of data-driven practices across the entire company. - Model Development & Deployment:
Lead the design, development, and application of a wide range of analytical models, including predictive models, segmentation, and life stage models. - Data Enhancement:
Partner with internal and external data suppliers to improve data quality, depth, and availability for analytical purposes. - Project Management:
Create and execute a quarter-by-quarter plan for the team, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with business goals. - Audience Creation:
Develop high-velocity smart audiences for 1-to-1 targeting and personalization in marketing channels like Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Adobe.
What We're Looking For
Skills & Experience
- Minimum of
5+ years
of experience in an analytical role with a focus on
data mining
,
predictive and prescriptive modelling
, and
customer database analysis
. - Proven experience working with stakeholders to inspire them, and shape a program of advanced models.
- Proven experience leading and managing a team of analytics professionals.
- Proficiency in
R / Python
,
SQL and Azure Machine Learning
is essential. - Experience of
Snowflake
is a plus as is experience of working in
agile
environments - Strong knowledge of relational databases and a good working knowledge of marketing concepts.
Qualifications
- A tertiary qualification with a bias towards mathematics, statistics, marketing, or information technology.
- A higher-level qualification (e.g., Master's or PhD) in a related field is highly desirable.

- You're an excellent communicator with the ability to clearly explain complex analysis to diverse audiences, including senior leadership.
