About the Role

As a member of our bar team, you'll be the face of our venue, creating bold rum-based cocktails, engaging with guests, and ensuring smooth operations. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves alternative culture, and has a knack for mixology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cocktail Knowledge & Craftsmanship:

  • Prepare and serve a diverse menu of rum-focused cocktails with precision and flair.

  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of cocktail varieties, flavor profiles, and cocktail techniques.
  • Contribute creative ideas for seasonal menus and signature drinks.

  • Customer Experience:

  • Deliver exceptional service, engaging guests with a warm, approachable, and professional demeanor.

  • Create memorable experiences by tailoring interactions to suit our diverse, alternative clientele.
  • Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints with tact and efficiency.

  • Bar Operations:

  • Execute opening procedures, including stock checks, equipment setup, and bar prep.

  • Perform closing duties, such as cleaning, restocking, cashing out, and reconciling tills.
  • Maintain a clean and organized bar area in compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Assist with inventory management and ordering to ensure stock levels meet demand.

  • Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with bar and floor staff to ensure seamless service during busy shifts.

  • Support team members in maintaining a positive and inclusive workplace vibe.
What We're Looking For

  • Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum 1-2 years' experience in a high-volume bar or cocktail-focused venue.

  • Strong knowledge of rum, spirits, and modern mixology techniques.
  • Proven ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with POS systems and cash handling.
  • RSA certification or Approved Manager certification (Queensland) required.

  • Personal Qualities:

  • Passion for alternative culture and music, with an ability to connect with diverse crowds.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to delivering high standards.

  • Bonus Points:

  • Flair bartending skills or experience with molecular mixology.

  • Knowledge of craft rums or local distilleries.
  • Previous experience training or mentoring junior staff.
