Forensic Engineer

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Forensic and Structural Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for investigating structural failures, assessing damage, and providing expert opinions on the condition and safety of various structures. Your expertise will be crucial in determining the cause of structural issues and recommending appropriate repair or remediation strategies.
Responsibilities:
* Conduct on-site investigations of structural failures, including residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure.
* Perform detailed structural analysis using engineering software and calculations to assess the load-bearing capacity and stability of structures.
* Identify the root causes of structural problems, such as design flaws, material defects, construction errors, or environmental factors.
* Prepare comprehensive reports documenting findings, including photographs, sketches, and detailed recommendations for repair or remediation.
* Provide expert testimony in legal proceedings, presenting technical findings and opinions in a clear and concise manner.
* Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other professionals to develop effective solutions for structural issues.
* Stay up-to-date with industry standards, codes, and regulations related to structural engineering and forensic investigations.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
* Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on forensic investigations and diagnostics.
* Proficiency in structural analysis software such as ClearCalcs, or similar programs.
* Strong knowledge of building codes, standards, and regulations.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and concise reports and present technical information to non-technical audiences.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites.
Preferred Skills:
* Experience with non-destructive testing methods.
* Familiarity with forensic engineering principles and practices.
