Our Opportunity

Work Location: Christmas Creek, loacted on the traditional lands of the Nyiyaparli people

Roster: 4D/3R (Monday to Thursday) – FIFO ex Perth

As a Senior Structural Engineer, you'll lead a technical civil/structural engineering team responsible for managing the structural integrity of Fortescue's assets at Christmas Creek Fixed Plant, in line with our Structural Integrity Management Process and Compliance Roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide safety leadership aligned with Fortescue's values and culture.
  • Lead and develop a team of civil/structural engineers for asset inspections and assessments.
  • Review and approve engineering documents to meet specifications, codes, and standards.
  • Manage technical queries with external contractors, manufacturers, and consultants.
  • Oversee or perform design checks for structural modifications (e.g., lifting points, platforms).
  • Respond to operational needs, including PM02 inspections and reactive queries.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (IEAust-recognised); Master's preferred.
  • Extensive experience in mining, construction, or oil & gas sectors.
  • Knowledge of Australian Standards and Codes (e.g., AS1170, AS4100, AS3600).
  • CPEng registered or actively working towards registration.
  • Strong background in structural design (reinforced concrete and steelwork).
  • Experience with 3D modelling and FE tools (e.g., SpaceGass).
  • Proven leadership and mentoring skills in an engineering environment.
