About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced spray painter/blaster to join our team at our workshop in Wattleup, WA (south of the river). We require someone who is reliable and available Monday to Friday (5 days) to assist with a variety of duties, including spray painting and blasting of plant machinery and equipment. The job will start off as a casual position with the probability of turning full-time after a 3-month probationary period. IMMEDIATE START REQUIRED.

Some of the tasks required are:


• Sanding, filling, and smoothing portions of surfaces that require coating.

• Covering areas that are not being sprayed or coated with masking tape and coverings.

• Mixing and selecting the necessary coating liquids in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications

• Choosing the appropriate spray equipment to achieve the desired coating thickness and coverage.

• Utilisation of industry techniques to spray machines, products, and general equipment

• Clean spray pots, nozzles, and other spray equipment to a high standard after each spray job.

• Conducting an inspection and evaluation of the thickness of spray coatings following the drying of each coat of paint.

• Cleaning and the replacement of spray booth filters as necessary.

• Reapplication of booth wall protective coating and clean and de-coat of all protection on a 12-monthly basis

• Apply PPG 625 2pac paints to achieve an automotive grade finish.

• Be capable of applying industrial marine grade primers to facilitate the application of an automotive finish topcoat, such as Hempel Mastic 45880.

• Capable of spraying metallic automotive paint and applying a clear coat over the base.

• Sandblasting of general equipment, machine parts, and products in preparation for painting

• Maintain the blasting equipment in accordance with the company's standards.

• As needed, clean the blast bay and recycle the garnet.

• As needed, clean and maintain paint racks, hooks, and other such items.

What we're looking for

  • A high level of attention to detail and exceptional hand-eye coordination
  • A willingness to learn with a positive attitude
  • An ability to communicate effectively and solve problems
  • Two years of post-trade experience as a painter/blaster (industrial or automotive) is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in working independently or as a member of a team
  • Adhere to all statutory requirements and safety protocols.
