The Marjorie Tripp Unit is a 20-bed ward that provides care to a cohort of patients who have Geriatric Syndromes (e.g. frailty, falls, dementia) who require an admission to hospital due to an acute medical condition.
About the role:
Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, some of your duties for the role will include:
- Provide direct person-centred nursing/midwifery care and/or individual case management to patients/clients on a shift-by-shift basis across a 7-day roster.
- Provide health promotion and education, to patients/clients or groups and carers to improve the health outcomes of individual
- rovide ward/team leader/coordination as required on a shift by shift basis. (A team leader is a RN assigned responsibility for supporting staff and coordinating patient/client care)
- Assist and supports the Nurse Unit Manager or equivalent in clinical, and education activities
- Participate in clinical teaching, overseeing learning experience, and goal setting for students, new staff and staff with less experience
- work within a collaborative multi-disciplinary team providing care to vulnerable patients to address their goals of care
About you:
- Effective communication skills including, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills
- Ability to be, creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues within a healthcare setting
- Demonstrated competence in specialised care of the older person nursing practice in accordance with the relevant standards
- Experience in the leadership and direction of student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses
We are seeking both RN1 and RN2C applications. To be considered for the RN2C (Clinical Nurse) level you must have at least three years, full time equivalent, post registration experience with proven experience in a clinical leadership role and examples of Safety and Quality initiatives that you have led and implemented.
