About the role:

Reporting to the Financial Controller the Financial Accountant provides support to the financial accounting team in managing and reporting the financial activities of BFX. This role assists in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting & Compliance - Support accurate recording of financial transactions, reconciliations, and preparation of management and statutory reports. Assist with external audits and ensure adherence to accounting standards, laws, and regulations.
  • Taxation - Assist with timely preparation and lodgement of tax obligations including GST, income tax, payroll tax, and FBT. Stay updated on Australian tax legislation and provide support in meeting compliance requirements.
  • Financial Operations - Contribute to day-to-day finance functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger maintenance, cash flow monitoring, and banking activities. Support continuous improvement in financial processes.
  • Inventory Management - Support internal audits, stocktake planning, and execution. Ensure accurate reconciliation between physical counts and system records, and assist with adjustments and reporting on stocktake outcomes.

What we're looking for:

  • Good working knowledge of accounting for both imported and manufactured products, including shipments, coordinating stock takes, and understanding the stock master.
  • Strong MS Excel skills. Whilst not essential, exposure to Power Pivot is highly desirable.
  • Great communicator and team player, able to lead by example and experience.
  • Ability to dig into balance sheet reconciliations, identify the process behind the numbers, and resolve errors.
  • Curiosity to investigate and resolve issues detected when reviewing reports and the enthusiasm to go the extra mile to resolve them.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years experience in a similar role
  • Internal /external financial audit experience during your accounting career will be highly regarded
