Part-Time Garden Educator – Hewish Road CCC, Croydon VIC

Position Type: Part-Time (4 to 7.5 hours per day- 2-3 days a week)

Location: Hewish Road Children's Community Centre, Croydon

Centre Size: Boutique 47-place early childhood centre

Age Group: 6 weeks to 6 years

We're a community-focused, boutique early learning centre located in Croydon, committed to fostering a love of learning through meaningful, hands-on experiences—especially in nature.

We're currently seeking a friendly, enthusiastic, and caring Garden Educator to join our experienced team in an off-the-floor role.

Your Role

As our Garden Educator, you'll play a key part in promoting sustainability, healthy eating, and a connection to nature among our children. This unique position is designed to nurture children's curiosity and understanding of the world around them through garden-based education.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining and caring for our centre garden
  • Leading gardening and sustainability programs for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years
  • Running engaging garden and cooking classes
  • Encouraging healthy eating habits and environmental responsibility
  • Collaborating with educators on programming and planning
  • Ensuring a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment for all children

About You

We're looking for someone with a genuine passion for early childhood education, nature, and sustainability.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience working with or an interest in young children's development
  • Valid Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • First Aid, Asthma, and Anaphylaxis Training (current)
  • Food Handling certificate
  • Child Protection Training
  • Sound knowledge of the EYLF, VEYLDF, and Child Safe Standards
  • A qualification on the ACECQA-approved early childhood qualifications list, or a WWCC if applying as a support worker (Diploma or Cert III level)

Police Check required (or willingness to obtain)
